Winter Maintenance Teams rise to the Challenge
Our winter maintenance teams are again gearing up for a weekend of gritting following heavy snow last weekend across the region.
With snowfall up to 6 inches falling within 24 hours last weekend it was the most some areas of the midlands had seen in nine years and our gritter fleet was operational for 72 hours to keep sites running. After restocking clients’ grit bins early in the week, the gritters have all been back at the depot during the week for routine maintenance checks and are on standby again this weekend as temperatures are predicted to fall once again.
Alistair Bow commented “We owe a big thanks to our teams who worked round the clock at the start of this week to ensure that our clients were kept operational during difficult conditions. We’ve invested significantly in our gritter fleet in the last few years to ensure we are best placed to respond when the time comes. Following the salt shortages we saw a few years ago we have worked hard with our supply chain to ensure we carry enough stock and have access to further supplies if conditions are prolonged.”
