Westfield Shopping Centre
Westfield Shoppingtowns Limited today awarded Thomas Bow City Asphalt (TBCA) two contracts for resurfacing works at their Merry Hill Shopping Centre. The work forms part of a five year package that will see the Company completely renovate the shopping centre’s sweeping car parks and other areas.
Communications were established with Westfield in June, which resulted in an invitation to tender. Karl Smith, Commercial Manager led the Project, programming and coordinating the efforts of the Commercial and Operations teams to ensure that the Company’s final submission was to the highest standards.
After successfully pre-qualifying in July, further discussions with the Client including several site meetings accompanied by TBCA’s Surfacing Director, Alex Gardner, led to an additional invitation to tender for their ‘Waterfront Car Parks’ package.
Today’s award will see Thomas Bow City Asphalt complete both contracts worth in the region of £500,000. Works are scheduled to commence in mid-September and will include the planning, resurfacing and lining of more than 40,000 m2 of the car parking area.
Speaking of the award, Alistair Bow, Managing Director said “this is a fantastic achievement for the Company and one that I know the project team are very proud of . . . Westfield have discussed with us a five-year programme of investment and I am confident that our newly formed partnership with them will certainly lead to further opportunities”.
