Mansfield Street Site Handover

Thomas Bow has successfully completed the handover of Mansfield Street in Leicester City Centre. The scheme, which was the first awarded following the new Highways Maintenance and Construction framework, involved the creation of a new carriageway between Mansfield Street and Belgrave Gate, linking up the Haymarket Bus Station.

Operating in the heart of Leicester City Centre demanded excellent stakeholder management to ensure access was maintained to all shops throughout the scheme and with the location adjacent to Nightclub, that the site was secure 24 hours a day.

John Allen, Construction Director commented “Following a number of successful public realms across the midlands, the team has done an excellent job, in what has been a challenging operating period in the heart of Leicester City Centre who have unfortunately been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak. In spite of the necessary controls that we have put in place to protect our staff and the public the result is an excellent quality public realm for the residents of Leicester.”

Following the success of this scheme, Thomas Bow has continued to secure works in Leicester including a new Public Realm at the National Space Centre and a new public realm in Horsefair, Pocklington Walk and Market Place South both starting in quarter four of 2020.
