Leicester City Council’s Civils Framework – A50

Thomas Bow are pleased to announce that Leicester City Council have awarded Thomas Bow the A50 (FiveWays Junction, Fosse Road North, Woodgate, Great Central Street) project under the PAN1517 Highway Maintenance and Construction Framework Agreement.

The contract, already underway, started in early 2023 and is valued at over £3.75 million. The scheme involves highway improvement works to one of the main arterial routes into the City and contract is due to last approximately 12 months. The works comprise realignment of carriageways in the area to provide improvements to bus, cycle and pedestrian facilities in a move to reduce congestion in the city centre and encourage greener commutes for locals. Works in all areas will also benefit from new street lighting, carriageway surfacing, traffic signs and road markings.

John Allen, Construction Director said “This is a fantastic scheme to be a part of, bringing Leicester city right up-to-date, in keeping with modern, greener living and encouraging fewer vehicles in congested areas, in line with government plans for net-zero targets.”
