Following a recent investigation, the Client had identified an increased risk of flooding along with structural problems to two aging brick and sandstone culverts that ran through Stainton Village.

Appointing TBCA as Principal Contractors; through early contractor involvement we were able to assist in obtaining consent for the works from the Environment Agency, following the submission of an ecological study report. Critical to the successful delivery of the works was the establishment of open lines of communication with a number of stakeholders, which included adjacent residents, all of whom would be significantly affected throughout the delivery phase.

Working under full road closure, the delivery phase included the removal of the existing bridge decks, roads and footways, along with diversions of the water that formed the Ruddle Dyke. Replacement of the existing structures required careful consideration, including the development of a lifting plan for the positioning of the new pre-cast rectangular culverts. Completing the works, we received numerous commendations from residents.
