Gritting & Salting

In the case of temperatures below zero but where the roads remain dry; where the ground is likely to freeze then our employees on site will spread rock salt (BS 3247:1991) at the appropriate rate to ensure a safer surface and minimise the risk of immediate freezing.

The objective will be to:

• Prevent the formation of ice on carriageways
• Facilitate the removal of ice and snow from carriageways and footways
  

In more extreme weather, where the temperature is below zero and where ice or hoarfrost is likely, or some snowfall accumulation is expected then our teams of operatives will grit your site, ensuring that footpaths, entrances and frontages benefit from safe access for your valued customers, employees and the general public, whilst the Company’s state of the art owned fleet of mechanical gritting vehicles will apply rock salt to the sites access roads and car parks, ensuring the quick and efficient treatment of all sites.

Owing to the corrosive properties of rock salt Thomas Bow City Asphalt will not apply it unnecessarily, thus minimising any adverse effects on motor vehicles and road surfaces.

We shall provide your Project or Facilities Managers with an easy to remember ‘Gold’ telephone number in order to enhance our response times or for any requests for additional or emergency gritting or snow clearance, ensuring you have access to a 24 hour service.
