CSCS Platinum Accredited Contractor

On 5th May 2011, Thomas Bow City Asphalt were delighted to be awarded with a Platinum Certificate of Commitment by ConstructionSkills for the Company’s commitment to CSCS, which now represents more than 90% of our workforce.

We have been members of ConstructionSkills (otherwise known as the CITB) since 2002 and have long since recognised the value and importance of the CSCS and CPCS cards, along with the levels of competence these qualifications bring to our employees who undertake the delivery of the schemes we construct for our Clients every day.

CSCS, or Construction Skills Certification Scheme to give it its full title, is the competence card Scheme for the construction industry. Since it was established in 1995, the Scheme has developed considerably to meet the changing needs of the industry and there are now over 1.6 million members.

Increasingly, anyone working or visiting a construction site is required by the client or contractor to show their CSCS card and that it’s appropriate for the job they do. So without a relevant CSCS card access to construction sites may be denied.

Thomas Bow City Asphalt has been a great supporter of the Scheme’s objectives, which are aimed at improving skill levels and competency across the industry in order to reduce accidents, ill health and fatalities and to improve productivity.

In our capacity as Principal Contractors, we understand the need for having a CSCS carded workforce as this shows our current and future clients that will provide a high-quality service; frequently our high levels of CSCS card holding can be the difference between us and our competitors when it comes to winning a contract. For our clients, it provides a simple way to check that everyone working on our sites possesses the appropriate skills to carry out their work competently and safely.
