Thomas Bow City Asphalt, acting as Principal Contractor, undertook the construction of the scheme, which was designed and managed by Nottinghamshire County Council for and on behalf of Broxtowe Borough Council.

Objective: The purpose of this project was to provide a wide ranging Environmental Improvement scheme that would improve the overall aesthetics and encourage footfall through the development of improved access/egress along with the construction of a new public space within this busy town centre.

Solution: Combining the use of high quality York Stone paving set using specialist SteinTec mortar and Tegular block paving, the scope of works included the construction of a significant public space, which included extensive soft landscaping including tree management.

Moving away from the centre of the works, Thomas Bow City Asphalt constructed an array of pedestrian and cycle paths aimed at improving access for the residents and businesses of Beeston. The works included the supply and installation of specialist street furniture, fencing and street lighting.

As Highway Maintenance contractors for the county, the scope of works also included the re-surfacing of one of the main arterial routes through the town centre, which include the surfacing of the highway, formation of a Zebra Crossing and associated fencing, electrical installations, road studs and road markings.

The effective use of traffic and pedestrian management resulted in the completion of these works without incident and minimal disruption to local businesses.
